John Williams may be the owner, the CEO and the president of TransQuip but above all else, he is a mentor and a friend to all that know him. John brings over 30 years of tank car experience. In addition, John’s engineering and manufacturing heritage has been instrumental in driving new products into the industry to improve safety and efficiency.

Dave was TransQuip’s first hire and is President of Operations. With over 30 years of industry experience, Dave brings extensive knowledge of tank car components, especially valve and seal technologies. Dave is based in Jacksonville FL.

Walt, now known to many within the industry as the ‘Godfather of Valves, started his career as an engineering consultant to industrial manufacturers. In 1986 he joined Union Tank Car as an engineer in their new car fleet department before seeing the light and moving to TransQuip in 1999. Walt is Vice President of Sales (Midwest) and Engineering based in Chicago IL.

Matt was born into the tank car industry. His fate and destiny were sealed, even before he knew it himself. Following a successful career with Salco Products and with an in-depth knowledge of tank car components, Matt joined TransQuip in 1999. Matt is the Vice President of Sales (SouthWest), based in Houston TX.

Joe started his tank car career with ACF in 1992 before joining Trinity in 1999; rising to become their Director of Engineering. In 2010 Joe joined TransQuip and is the Vice President of Sales (West) and Engineering. He is a guru on tank car design and regulations based in Dallas TX.

Glenn started his tank car career with Union Tank Car in 1995 rising to become the National Operations Manager for Mobile Repair Units and Customer located Mini-Shops. With a comprehensive knowledge on the day-to-day workings of tank cars, he joined TransQuip in 2013 and is the Vice President of Sales (South), based in Baton Rouge LA.

Emanuel’s career spans over 25 years of industrial marketing and manufacturing, specializing in sealing systems. Emanuel joined TransQuip in 2016 and is the Vice President of Sales (East), based in Lynchburg VA.

 

JAY SMYTH

Jay began his career at Caltrax at the tender age of 18. Over the next 30 years, Jay’s operational and mechanical expertise saw him rise to Operations Manager. When TransQuip decided to open a distribution and service center in Canada; it was question of getting the right person for the role.

Jay joined TransQuip in October 2021 and is the   Vice President of Sales & Operations (Canada), based in Calgary CA.

JAMES PHIPPS

James started his rail career at Trinity Rail. Over the next 20 years, he became their Sr Project Engineer specializing in new rail car design, construction and repair.  Most recently, James spent 3 years at ExxonMobil as their senior engineer, maintaining one of North America’s largest privately owned railcar fleets.

Well known throughout the industry, James has experience in both freight cars and tank cars. (specilaizing in airbrake system design and testing, welding and interior/exterior coatings).

He joined TransQuip’s in November 2020 as the Vice President of Engineering, based in Dallas TX.
